Don't Put All Your Eggs in One Basket

Hello everyone....it's supposed to hit 60 degrees today!!!! I am hoping to get out and wash my very dirty car today. In other news, I hope you notice some changes to my blog. I am slowly figuring out how to add my own personal touches to my blog and by the end of the day I should have some links up on where to find my newest creations.Yes...this neat Egg Basket is among my newest items. It's a great size to hand on a cupboard door. It also serves as a metaphor for how I'm trying to live life right now. I'm trying hard to not concentrate too much in one area without driving myself crazy trying to do too many things.My kids are 13 and 16 and I am all too aware of how fast they grow so although some days I could camp out in my workshop and stitch all day.....I remind myself to enjoy every moment I have with them before they take flight and make their own "nest" somewhere. Boy I have a lot of bird, egg and nest symbols going on don't I? I'm telling you...it's the time of year. Have a wonderful day and I hope the sun is shinning where you live.~Kathy~

This time of year is for the birds....

This time of year is for the birds....literally. I don't know what it is about this time of year but I go crazy making birds. Small ones and big ones....painted ones and even ones made out of those fantastic civil war reproduction fabrics that I have an addiction to. My local fabric store (Patches Quilting)is celebrating it's ninth year in our small town. Which is fantastic given the tough economy. So all this month the owner has great deals including "make a bag and stuff it". If you make a bag (any size) out of their fabric. Anything you put in it is %25 off.So of course I made a bag the size of a pillow case....and I have been there three times this month. I would visit everyday if I had the money. Like most folk artists out there, I buy my fabric retail....and it has gotten increasingly expensive over the last five years.Like everyone else I LOVE a bargain so this sale has come along at the perfect time for making my birds......Thank you Jackie

Getting Caught Up

I am using this day to get caught up on things....I need to do that every now and then or I go crazy. And one of my things to get caught up on is this Blog I am desperately trying to get the hang of. It's probably just me but technology is draining. Sometimes I sit at this computer and I know what I want things to look like but I just have no clue on how to "Get there".But enough about my lack of technology skills and on to something fun......Charleston, South Carolina. Just about on of the neatest cities I have ever been to. It helped that the weather was perfect and within walking distance or a short trolley ride (which was free). My husband had to go there for work and when he told me I said "take me with you!!!"....and he did!!!! He was in meetings most of the day but I got to pal around with one of the nicest ladies who's husband works with mine. Luckily the guys got out early on the last day and we gave them a quick tour of the historic district. All I can say is AMAZING!!!!

This is just one of hundreds of pictures I took while I was there. This city is full of history, art galleries and amazing restaurants. I can't wait to get back down there with my kids.The other cool thing I have done lately is travel to Fishersville, Va. to take part in the Winter in the Valley antique and folk art show. It was FANTASTIC as always. The antiques are second to none and the vendors are just so cool. I love visiting with them and catching up.

Here's a picture of our little booth. We did great and I loved saying hi to all my repeat customers as well as meeting new ones. And the people that have seen me on the web...now THAT is cool.

Where Have I Been?

I can't believe how much trouble I have Blogging!!! I swear I mean well it's just that my days go by so darn fast that even though I think "I should blog about this!"......I don't. Like my trip to Charleston, South Carolina....One of my new favorite places!!! Or the FANTASTIC show that I just came back from doing.....Winter in the Valley...AMAZING...Well I promise that I WILL blog about both of these events tomorrow morning...Why wait you ask?...Because I have to put my chauffeur hat on and drive my daughter and her friends to the varsity basketball game. You know the drill...maid...cook...chauffeur ....and sometimes therapist (she's sixteen). But I wouldn't have it any other way. My kids are my world. So check back tomorrow morning...I promise there will be something new to read...Have a great night!!!
